Young Scientist Awards
Objective : To reward young scientists and engineers in Hong Kong who show great promise in their field of study, with the hope that this will nurture the growth of science and technology in the region.
Three awards will be given annually at the HKIS Annual Conference (usually held in October/November), one in each of the following fields:
(a) Physical/Mathematical science
(b) Life science
(c) Engineering science
HKIS History
The Hong Kong Institution of Science (HKIS) was established in 1992 to foster the development of science in Hong Kong and to facilitate the development of links with scientific communities in the Chinese mainland, Taiwan and overseas. The Institution has nearly 400 members covering the fields of physical science, life science, engineering science and mathematics. It has been taking an active role in supporting....
Membership
  • Fellows of the Institution shall be Ordinary Members of the Institution with good standing and shall have made outstanding contribution to science and technology through original research or innovative applications; or have provided outstanding service to the science and technology community in Hong Kong. Fellows of the Institution shall be elected in the manner prescribed by the Council and specified in By-Laws.
  • Ordinary Members shall have a substantial connection with Hong Kong, and usually possess a doctorate degree in a scientific discipline (other than an honorary doctorate) from an accredited institution, or have contributed to the furtherance of scientific knowledge by publication in learned journals, inventions or patents.
  • Student Members are those who are enrolled in a full time degree programme in a scientific discipline.
